New Playground Formally Open

As part of a soft opening, residents and their guests have been able to use the new Playground since mid-May (providing members of the Garden Staff were present behind the corden). However the recent Open Garden Event on June 8th represented the first weekend the corden had been removed and the Playground officially opened.

On behalf of all residents, the Garden Committee would like to thank the Staff, Volunteers and Resident Sponsors for heling deliver the new Play Area after two years of work and reviewing proposals from over a dosen suppliers.

A Link to the Garden's History

In addition to now conforming with BS EN 1176 & 1177 Guidelines, the new Play Area also introduces a tangible link to the Garden’s most prominent former resident, Robert Stephenson, who lived on the Square from 1848 until his passing in 1858. Those wishing to learn more about Stephenson, and Titania, can consult the Dual Side Noticeboard (designed and built by the Garden Secretary) next to the moving yacht in the Play Area. We will also be building out a Stephenson section of this website in H2 2024.
